That’s why I love Quinn and Puck
I don’t think anyone realizes how broken they both are because it’s not always obvious. They both put up incredible fronts that leave everyone to think that they’re making it through just fine but on the inside they’re both struggling with more than just about anyone else.
They may not know what it feels like to be ostracized from friends but they know a deeper pain, a pain of a parent not giving a damn. At the end of the day it’s your parents who are supposed to love and support you unconditionally and they both know what it’s like to have fathers who have given them the proverbial “fuck you”.
Everyone else on the show has at least one parent who loves and cares for them but Puck and Quinn know what it’s like to feel abandoned by a father, a father who was supposed to love and protect them their entire lives. Is there any worse betrayal a person can feel than to be considered not worth by their parent(s).
No, their pain isn’t obvious to everyone at school. But it’s when they both go home, a place that’s supposed to be a safe haven, that they probably feel the emptiest. Yes, their are other characters who have lost parents (Kurt and Finn) but I’m pretty sure their parents didn’t make the choice to give up on their child.
Sorry, but that connection Quinn and Puck share has always fascinated me.
